Manure - Nature’s source of energy

The concept of producing biogas using manure is not new at all. The difference is that today modern technology makes it possible to increase the efficiency and create a commercially scaled energy plant.

Owning and operating a biogas plant has a number of advantages, which combined can provide an attractive opportunity for a professional livestock farmer looking to invest into the future.

• Generation of value adding energy
• Reduced odour
• Reduced chemical fertilizer cost

Value adding energy
By extracting gas from  manure energy can be captured in the form of biogas, which can be used as a green energy source. The electricity produced can be sold to the grid for profit and the heat produced can be used for stables and/or nearby housing or alternatively be sold to a local customer.

At a time of the unstable and increasing energy prices sustainable energy sources are becoming serious alternatives to traditional ones. An investment in sustainable energy sources is an investment in the future.

Reduced odour
When spreading raw manure odour emissions is a recurring nuisance. Odour often result in complaints and give the agricultural sector a bad image. If manure is treated in a biogas plant the odour is significantly reduced. This means that the manure can be applied to the soil afterwards without disturbing the surrounding community

Reducing chemical fertilizer costs
In order to achieve a good yield from crop production, chemical fertilizers are added. In a world of increasing oil and gas prices the costs of chemical fertilizer will continue to rise as well. Manure digestate is a better fertilizer than raw manure and helps you reduce fertilizer costs.
